When I think of August, I think of pools. Cute poem...

Swimming Ool
by Kenn Nesbitt

Swimming in the swimming pool
is where I like to "B,"
wearing underwater goggles
so that I can "C."
Yesterday, before I swam,
I drank a cup of "T."
Now the pool is just an "ool"
because I took a "P."

LONG drawn, the cool, green shadows

Steal o'er the lake's warm breast,

And the ancient silence follows

The burning sun to rest.

The calm of a thousand summers,

And dreams of countless Junes,

Return when the lake-wind murmurs

Thro' golden, August noons.

This poem was very humorous to me.

What to Remember in School

by Kenn Nesbitt

Forget that two times four is eight.
Forget the name of every state.
Forget the answers on the test.
Forget which way is east or west.

Forget the myths of ancient Rome.
Forget to bring your books from home.
Forget the words you learned to spell.
Forget to hear the recess bell.

Forget your homeroom teacher’s name.
Forget the after-school game.
Forget which team’s supposed to win.
Forget to turn your homework in.

Forget the distance to the moon.
Forget how many days in June.
Forget the capital of France.
But don’t forget to wear your pants!

Crime and Punishment
About the Poem
Two principles of discipline in schools is that punishments should be fair and consistently applied, things which seems to have passed Miss Tibbs by completely.

Miss Tibbs put me in detention
For a moment's inattention
Now I'm to write a hundred lines
The same six words one hundred times.

You may think that punishment's fine
But shouldn't the sentence fit the crime
Perhaps, 'I will not doze in class'
But not, 'I will cut Miss Tibbs' grass'
One hundred times.

Thought this was cute...who could I have cut my grass next semester?

annim-lol!
I thought this was the cutest poem. I laughed out loud! I have read a few of Nesbitt's poem and I enjoy his work. Thanks for the day's giggle.

School:

Welcome Back!
I got a brand new back pack, It’s filled with lots of stuff.
Pencils crayons and markers too, I hope I have enough.
I am sure my teacher will be nice, Maybe Jane is in my class,
I see the flag and Mr. Smith, as I press against the glass.
We are slowing, the door is near, off the bus to a brand new year!
