October is Hispanic appreciation month. This is a more of a song/nursery rhyme, but short and easy to learn... to the tune of "Frere Jacques".

Pulgarcito, donde estas
by unknown

Pulgarcito, donde estas?
(Hands behind your back)
Aqui estoy! Aqui estoy!
(One thumb comes out, then the other)
Como esta usted? Muy bien, gracias!
(Thumbs pretend to talk to each other)
Ya me voy. Ya me voy.
(One hand and then the other goes behind you back)

In English;

Thumbkin, where are you?
Here I am! Here I am!
How are you? Very well, thank you.
Now I'm going! Now I'm going!

September
Back To My Home Page
A road like brown ribbon

A sky that is blue

A forest of green

With that sky peeping through.

Asters, deep purple,

A grasshopper's call,

Today it is summer,

Tomorrow is fall.

The witches fly
Across the sky,
The owls go, "Who? Who? Who?"
The black cats yowl
And green ghosts howl,
"Scary Halloween to you!"

Autumn days are here again!

Author: John Muir

In autumn when the trees are brown
The little leaves come tumbling down
They do not make the slightest sound
But lie so quietly on the ground
Until the wind comes puffing by
And blows them off towards the sky.

The winds will blow their own freshness into you,
and the storms their energy,
while cares will drop away from you
like the leaves of Autumn.

HALLOWEEN MAGIC

A bald-headed ghost
Drank some witches' brew
And on top of his head
A strange thing grew.

It was pointed and tall
And black as a bat
With stringy long hair
Where his head was flat.

The sad little ghost
Didn't want any hair
Or a black pointed hat
So he said, "Witch beware!"
Then he chanted some words
With a spell-casting switch
And gave Halloween Night
A bald-headed witch!!

SHIVERS

Bushes quiver
where shadows lean,
and not a sliver
of moon is seen.

Near the river
some goblins (green)
with a witch in front
and a ghost in between

Make me sh..i..vvvver,
but I am keen
about the shivers
of Halloween.

~Aileen Fisher~

IT'S HALLOWEEN

It's Halloween! It's Halloween!
The moon is full and bright
And we shall see what can't be seen
On any other night.

Skeletons and ghosts and ghouls,
Grinning goblins fighting duels,
Werewolves rising from their tombs,
Witches on their magic brooms.

In masks and gowns
we haunt the street
And knock on doors
for trick or treat.

Tonight we are
the king and queen,
For oh tonight
it's Halloween!

~Jack Prelutsky~

On Halloween a child can be anything they dream of being.

Annie- I heard that poem on Dragon Tales once when watching with my kids. You are right, it is easy to learn and fun to do the actions.

Halloween:

Falling, Falling
Every season has a reason for you to fall in love,
But mine you see is full of leaves that fall from up above.
They are red and orange and even brown,
They come flowing down and dance on the ground.
I make a pile and jump right in,
If seasons were a contest Fall would win.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

Original by Eddie Pola and George Wyle 1963

Parody By (me) Carly B.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year-
Leaves are falling, pumpkins are glowing-
Goblins are creeping, terrors are prancing-
It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year-
With the kids treat and treating-
And the jack-o-lanterns smiling-
It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

It’s the hap-happiest time of the year-
With spirits dancing and night owls hooting-
And witches come calling-
It’s the hap-happiest time of the year.

There’ll vineyards in crushing-
Apples for dunking-
Laughing out of the houses-
There’ll be scary ghost stories
And tells full of gore from
Halloweens long long ago.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year-
There’ll be horrific bat noises-
And frightened faces shouting
When horrific ones are near-
It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

There’ll be leaves a’ falling
And piles of jumping-
With black cats meowing out by the moon-
There’ll be spooky stories
And outrageous tales of monsters from
Long long ago.

It’s the most wonderful time of the YEAR!
